President Barack Obama wants to wear a fake mustache to Israel in what he calls a "fantasy" that would allow him to enjoy his visit to the Middle Eastern nation like a regular tourist.
On Thursday, Obama told Israeli Channel 2, "Sometimes I have this fantasy that I can put on a disguise, wear a fake mustache and I can wander through Tel Aviv and go to a bar and have a conversation."
He looked back on the time when he was last in Israel when he was a senator, stating, "The last time I was there as a senator, I still had the option of wandering through the Old City of Jerusalem. That option becomes much trickier once you’re actually president."
Long gone are the days that Obama can take trips on the down low. Tight security will prevent President Obama from freely going out and about in Israel.
He lamented that he will miss the "spontaneous interactions" he used to have when he traveled and talked about how impossible that would be on his trip to Israel.
"You can’t just slip out and interact with people without having a bunch of guys with machine guns with you."
Whatever his fantasy is, it looks like President Barack Obama won't have much time chatting it up in bars and coffee shops in Israel.
He will be in Israel for a short 48-hours, with plans to have multiple meetings with diplomats and a few visits to historic sites. No mustache required.
