There is a new Obama dog in the White House. On Aug. 19, Michelle Obama took to her Twitter account to announce that the first family welcomed a new puppy to their family. "Sunny" will join "big brother" Bo at the White House. Bo really needed a companion and play dates weren't cutting it. Now the Obama's have adopted their second dog to keep Bo company and to really round out their (fur) family.
"So excited to introduce the newest member of the Obama family—our puppy, Sunny!" Mrs. Obama tweeted yesterday. She also posted the photo above which shows Bo and Sunny hanging out in the grass together.
The new Obama dog is a Portuguese Water Dog just like Bo. The two already seem like great companions which is a good thing because they will be keeping each other company from here on out. Clearly this means more responsibility for Malia and Sasha, but they are all very excited to have two pups and they seem to love taking care of their pets.
"We suspect Sunny will follow in Bo's footsteps and keep the President company in the Oval Office, go for walks with the First Family after their 6:30 family dinner and even jump up on the First Lady’s lap from time to time!" the White House blog said. It's clear that Bo is the happiest about this new addition.
Sunny Obama is one lucky dog!
