The day may come when President Obama rues the day he and the Democrats in Congress began degrading the CIA and tearing apart the anti-terrorism program that has prevented an attack on the United States since 9/11. Instead of using their energy and skills to protect America, the agency must defend itself as Obama dismantles the War on Terrorism.

The fact is that Obama and his congressional supporters leaked and decided to investigate a highly classified program to eliminate al Qaeda leaders. Apparently, their sympathies lie with the terrorists who would try to destroy America rather than to the agents who often lay their lives on the line in preventing another attack.
It could bring on a nightmare as the terrorists become more sophisticated and may already have access to nuclear weapons. However, Obama and the Democrats do not want al Qaeda leaders targeted by U.S. intelligence operatives. Meanwhile America's military forces are laying down their lives killing terrorists who are capable of creating another murderous attacks such as the one that took place on 9/11.

What Americans expect from their government is what is called their "common defense" in the Constitution's phrase, not a commander in chief who not only cringes at taking the necessary steps to protect them, but tries to destroy the very agencies that are their protectors.
It shows how far from reality Obama and the Democrats have become in that they don't understand that Americans want the terrorists that would kill them to be assassinated. The day could come when the public asks why, instead of protecting them, they publicized the program and then launched a full-scale congressional investigation into it.

It becomes more obvious today that America does not have a Commander in Chief but a man who apologized to the world for its accomplishments and exposes the way its agencies are working to protects its people. He is supported by a congressional leadership that is incapable of overseeing sensitive intelligence or military matters. Under the direction of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, this Congress has disqualified itself from serious involvement in covert operations. Whether CIA Director Leon Panetta will stand up to Obama and Pelosi in trying to salvage what is left of the agency after they have torn it apart is yet to be seen.

Americans have not forgetten 9/11, even if Obama and the Democrats have. The question is whether their political posturing and degradation of the CIA and other agencies that are trying to protect its citizens will embolden terrorists.

Martha, this is typical leftist politics. Weaken our national defense by denigrating the CIA and cutting funding to the most advanced jet fighter in the world (F-22).
While the left may not have forgotten 9/11, they wish the rest of America would.
I will never forget that it was the left wing who burned many a college admin office and covered them with urine and feces, who rioted and started fires in our nations cities.
And I will never forget that it was the leftists who spat upon America's troops returning from Viet Nam.
it's not the program that needs to be investigated, it's dead-eye dick cheney ordering it to be kept secret from congress for eight years. if the CIA and cheney's defense for this potentially illegal action is that the "program was not operational", that needs to found out. relying on an agency's self-reporting about possible illegal activities is a clear case of conflict of interest.
What balderdash! There was/is nothing "highly classified" about the concept that we want to kill or capture the SOBs behind 9/11. Bush announced we were going to do it (never mind that he took half-way measures at best because of his obsession with Iraq) and numerous MSM reports and post-9/11 books talked about it in general terms.
What's classified is details about how. And what's required to be briefed to Congress is that you are working on those details.
And what was stopped was a Charlie Foxtrot that had been hidden from congressional oversight - almost certainly in violation of statutes.
And may I point out that, for all his faults, Obama has at least put the focus back on Afghanistan, the Taliban and al Qaeda - after Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld pulled out the first, second AND third string before the first half was even over?
DRH, it's the UNIFORMED MILITARY who wants to halt further F-22 production. Their focus is on the JSF, a superior aircraft and, hopefully, less of a money pit.
It's the Congress-critters who want to keep the F-22 line going - so they can spend more taxpayer money in their home districts.
