Obama’s Federal Communication Commission wants to place monitors in news rooms to decide which stories are selected, station priorities, content production, population served, perceived station bias and perceived percent of news dedicated to each of the “critical information” needs of a community.

That is perceived as a way to intimidate certain news organization into covering only issues that the government thinks are important.

The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) started a petition at on June 19, 2014 and at 3 p.m. est it had already reached over 50,000 signatures demanding “no government in newsrooms” at

According to Jay Sekulow, chief counsel of the ACLJ

This is an extremely troubling and dangerous development that represents the latest in an ongoing assault on the Constitution by the Obama administration….Now we see the heavy hand of the Obama administration poised to interfere with the First Amendment rights of journalists.

The group, Reporters Without Borders has ranked the U.S. 46th in the world press freedom having dropped 27 points in just the last year as Obama administration showed its muscle when its Department of Justice seized the Associated Press phone records without warning.
