President Barack Obama believes his office should generate, what he considers, positive messages to the international community.
For example, one reason his Justice Department will try Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other Islamic terrorist in New York City is to show the international community that the US believes in providing even the most vicious individuals a fair trial, even if they did kill 3,000 people.
However, Attorney General Eric Holder's move to transfer jurisdiction from the military to the civil criminal justice system sends another message: military courts are good enough for America's protectors, but they're not good enough for mass-murdering terrorists.
President Obama has always shown a soft spot in his heart for the Islamic religion. During his presidential campaign, then-Senator Barack Obama told a Christian Broadcasting Network correspondent something that should have alerted every one of the tens of millions of Christians in the
Obama told CBN's David Brody: "I think that the [political] right might worry a bit more about the dangers of sectarianism. Whatever we once were, we're no longer just a Christian nation; we are also a Jewish nation, a Muslim nation, a Buddhist nation, a Hindu nation, and a nation of nonbelievers."
If that tidbit of information wasn't enough to question Obama's vision for
It's safe to assume that Obama included Jews out of a desire to drive a wedge between them and conservative Christians. However, only a fool would buy his rhetoric since the President has shown he's no friend to Israel, while conservative Christians have supported the Jewish state -- in both word and deed -- against its enemies.
Then he uttered his zinger: "Somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart. It got hijacked. Part of it's because of the so-called leaders of the Christian Right, who've been all too eager to exploit what divides us."
While Obama professes to be a Christian, Americans learned his pastor and religious mentor was an America-bashing racist who found a "trusted friend" in the Nation of Islam's Louis Farrakhan, a man known for his unbridled bigotry against Jews and white Christians. Of course, being the political animal he is, Obama eventually distanced himself from his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
According to a news story in World Net Daily, Obama's comment about the "Christian Right" was mild compared to statements made by his national campaign co-manager, Merrill A. McPeak.
McPeak seemed to compare evangelical Christians to the terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah. He told the newspaper The Oregonian that Hamas and Hezbollah were similar to Oregonian Christians whom he labeled radicals.
Once safely entrenched in the Oval Office, President Obama decided to show his true stance on Christianity. He did away with the annual National Day of Prayer on which the White House traditionally hosted a service in its East Room. When a reporter asked Obama's press secretary Robert Gibbs about Obama's decision, Gibbs replied, "Prayer is something that the president does everyday." Then Gibbs promised that Obama would sign a proclamation to recognize the day, as many administrations in the past have done.
While President George W. Bush marked the National Day of Prayer with a service at the White House for each of the eight years he served, this year, President Obama decided against holding a public ceremony.
However, in the midst of a war against radical Islam and his push to takeover health care, President Obama found time to hold a White House dinner honoring the Muslim holiday of Ramadan Kareem. And the guest list did not only include Muslims. Many
But there's more. They held a national prayer gathering of Muslims on September 25 in front of the US Capitol Building. According to one source, there were at least 50,000 attendees from Mosques all across
The planners of the event even set up a web site http://islamoncapitolhill.com
It's a shame that the Obama White House ignored the National Day of Prayer and instead issued a paper proclamation, meanwhile he had a White House Celebration for a Muslim holiday. Most Americans have no problem with the Muslim holiday but they do have a problem when it is celebrated in lieu of the National Day of Prayer. With Obama ramming Ramadan down the throats of Americans, it’s hoped Americans will finally realize that their leaders use faith as a political prop.

I'm 55 years old and I've just learned to whistle. It comes naturally when you pull in your breath and say "Whewwwwww"!!! after every paragraph in this article.
it's not surprising when you're from indonesia where the chief grew up. bow to your leader.
The part of Obama's speech prior to what you quoted:
So doing the Lord's work is a thread that's run through our politics since the very beginning. And it puts the lie to the notion that the separation of church and state in America means faith should have no role in public life. Imagine Lincoln's Second Inaugural without its reference to "the judgments of the Lord." Or King's "I Have a Dream" speech without its reference to "all of God's children." Or President Kennedy's Inaugural without the words, "here on Earth, God's work must truly be our own." At each of these junctures, by summoning a higher truth and embracing a universal faith, our leaders inspired ordinary people to achieve extraordinary things.
But somehow, somewhere along the way, faith stopped being used to bring us together and started being used to drive us apart.
..
The part after the Obama quote:
.. what divides us. At every opportunity, they've told evangelical Christians that Democrats disrespect their values and dislike their Church, while suggesting to the rest of the country that religious Americans care only about issues like abortion and gay marriage; school prayer and intelligent design. There was even a time when the Christian Coalition determined that its number one legislative priority was tax cuts for the rich. I don't know what Bible they're reading, but it doesn't jibe with my version.
But I'm hopeful because I think there's an awakening taking place in America. People are coming together around a simple truth that we are all connected, that I am my brother's keeper; I am my sister's keeper. And that it's not enough to just believe this we have to do our part to make it a reality. My faith teaches me that I can sit in church and pray all I want, but I won't be fulfilling God's will unless I go out and do the Lord's work
First, President Obama is an avowed CHRISTIAN...who recognizes that America is not composed of ONLY Christians any more. Why crucify him for giving an honest assessment of America's demographic scene, and attempting to show respect for what others hold sacred? Are Americans that arrogant and simple minded? I would advise you to research how many American Presidents, Government Officials and Social Icons have been...and ARE...Muslim Shriners!
And these are the kinds of people over our police forces? Little wonder they are so quickly losing the support of many communities.
P.S. - It's a good thing that JESUS isn't as narrow minded as so many of those who claim to follow him.
"Many will come to me in that day saying, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name, and in thy name cast out devils, and in thy name done many wonderful works?' And I will say unto them, 'Depart from me, I know you not; ye workers of iniquity.'"
I wonder if Mr. Kouri considers himself a "Christian".
Reading your column I'm reminded of the Ford quote: "Any color - as long it's black". Any religion as long as it's Christian. You fail to mention that Obama also held a Jewish Seder dinner at the White House during passover and attended Easter services.
Do not Muslims have the right to gather in Washington for a day of prayer? I forgot, any religion as long as its Christian.
Obama is more Muslim than Christian. NO Christian could sit in Rev Wrights church for 20 years and claim such a man as his spiritual adviser.
Since some of your folks seem to know the mind of Jesus, why did he say, "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." He also said,"But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find
it." Hmmmm. Perhaps when it comes to Jesus and righteousness, being narrowminded is a plus. Here's another: "Do not open thy mind too wide for thy brain may crasheth to the ground." LOL. Okay, that one I made up. I love it when liberals think they know the will of God.
Oh, by the by, I also love it when people misquote the Bible or take quotes out of context such as liberals. Remember Jesse Jerkson saying Jesus was homeless? Or Hillary Rotten Clinton saying the Bible supports illegal aliens?
Let's see...
The first President to not participate in the National Day of Prayer.
The first President to outright call Christians a group to be watched as terrorists or a threat to our country.
The first President to say we are NOT a Christian nation? (Ignoring the history of this nation from the founders to the previous administration)
The first President to quote from the Quran (as if it were greater than the Bible) and show favortism to the Muslim religion.
The first President to bow to a Muslim leader (and now to the Japanese emperor).
The first President to apologize for us standing up for our national sovereignty?
Just what were those who voted for him thinking? I am offended at his lack of leadership, lack of respect for the history of the United States and our Constitution and for his trying to portray Christians as some sort of enemy.
How ignorant are u,he is the president and that is final.
You're kidding, right? A "National Day of Prayer" is the equivalent to Ramadan? The suggestion here is that Christians are the only ones who pray, as you appear to be comparing a "Christian" remembrance to a Muslim remembrance. In fact Ramadan is more akin to the Christmas holidays. And the last time I checked the White House is still lighting a Christmas tree.
The sad thing is the number of people reading this who actually believe you said something profound.
America and the West are spoiling more than any other citizens, the Muslims who entered their countries as refugees, asylum seekers and migrants to live a better life, and they have been given the freedom and every opportunity to live a better life that they would have never dreamed of in their own Country of Origin, and what did they do to America in return?
September 11 and in the latest incident Major Hassan killed his fellow soldiers in cold-blooded killing, rather than to go and fight alongside Non Muslims (his fellow American soldiers), against other Muslims, it is against The Islamic Faith and it is written in their Holy Book the Quran (Verse: AL-MAEDA 5:51) and also his Allah (God of Muslims) will punish him for killing Muslims but will reward him for killing Non Muslims Jews and Christians.

When we get to the afterlife I think we will all be very surprise who is there. God's mercies are great, much greater than any man. Think what you will about Obama, but don't let him or anyone else allow you to deviate from the fundamentals of your Christian faith.
George, you've got to be kidding, right? Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Blind faith without question is a not so subtle first step. This is a government OF THE PEOPLE, not of the president - he is this country's ultimate public servant - NOT public ruler! I've spent 24 years in service to this great country and will NEVER follow anyone blindly just because they are the President. That is why our forefathers set up the checks and balances system of government we have to day - to prevent ANYONE from ever acquiring absolute power and thus ensuring that the people of this nation maintain their own sovereignty over it and its' government.
