President Barack Obama delivers remarks about the crisis in Syria.
Senior administration officials say President Barack Obama had planned to take military action against Syria without congressional authorization, but told aides Friday night that he had changed his mind. Obama announced Saturday that he wanted to launch a military strike, but would first seek lawmakers' approval. The officials describe a president overriding all his top national security advisers, who believe consulting with Congress was sufficient. The officials say Obama spent the week wrestling with Congress' role and made the decision Friday after a lengthy discussion with his chief of staff, Denis McDonough. They say Obama decided seeking approval would make the U.S. stronger even though he still believes he has the authority to act alone.
The administration officials requested anonymity because they weren't authorized to discuss Obama's decision-making by name. But Chap Oscar has made the appeal for Intercessory Prayer. We need time to analyze all the evidence and hear from heaven on how to heal our land globally.
Chap Oscar just feels we as a people will be “uniquely capable” of conducting an “impartial, credible” Godly response.
Is this possible? Are we being reasonable? Listen to what Jesus taught. He said, "...He who believes in Me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go to the Father" (John 14:12). He taught, "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it shall be done for you" (John 15:7). When we are aligned correctly to God's will, we will indeed have the Father's endorsement and the Son's authority.
Therefore, the Father's goal, which must become our goal, is nothing less than Christlikeness, where we become fully trained in the knowledge of the ways of God. The Lord calls us to pay the same price, do the same works and possess the exact same benefits from prayer that Jesus did. We cannot afford to compromise what God has promised, nor disobey what He requires. These verses confirm that when the words of Jesus are taught, and where the Spirit of Jesus has liberty, then the life of Jesus is manifested. Let this become both our immediate and our long-term goal: to see Jesus Christ revealed in His fullness.
Let's pray: Lord Jesus, forgive us for putting limited focus ahead of your love for this world. Cleanse us, God Almighty. Even at this moment, grant us unrestrained passion for You and You alone! For Your glory we live and pray. Amen
