Obama auto bailout speech full of lies

There President Obama goes again, telling half-truths to mislead the public.

Whether or not one supports the auto bailout, the public deserve a full and truthful accounting of its vagaries.

In trying to spin the auto bailout as a positive – even though that bailout has lost the taxpayers astronomical amounts of money – Obama is out touring auto plants and telling lies about the so-called successes of the bailout.

The President’s claims about the auto bailout do not pass the smell test.

  1. Obama claims that bailed out automakers have paid back the taxpayers. This is a lie. The Treasury Department numbers show that the taxpayers stand to lose over a billion dollars on the auto baiout.
  2. Obama is claiming that auto companies are hiring at levels not seen since the prosperous Clinton years. But he is not telling the public that those companies still employ far less workers than they did in the 90s.
  3. Obama is claiming that General Motors will hire back all who lost jobs during the recession. This is false.  The economic downtown for GM began in 1996, and many thousands of workers who lost their jobs since will not return.

President Obama’s lack of truthfulness about the auto bailout has revealed him to be no better than a used car salesman, selling a clunker to the American public and calling it a luxury vehicle.

The American people deserve better.

They deserve the truth that Obama refuses to tell.
