Obama approval index falls to double negative digits, now -11

Today, Rasmussen reports Obama's Presidential Approval Index fell to -11. Another record low.

Today is the first Obama Approval Index based entirely upon polling conducted after the press conference, during which Obama made his infamous "stupidly" remark. Likely voters obviously do not approve of the president's ObamaGates controversy - the number of likely voters who strongly disapprove of Obama's performance has gone up 5% since the press conference (from 35% on Wednesday morning to 40% today).

The tracking Poll shows that 29% of the nation's voters still strongly approve of Obama's performance, but 40% strongly disapprove. Rasmussen's Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who strongly disapprove from the number who strongly approve.

Rasmussen Reports presidential job approval ratings are based upon a sample of likely voters, rather than samples of all adults. Obama’s numbers are always several points higher in a poll of adults rather than likely voters because some of Obama's most enthusiastic supporters, such as young adults, are less likely to turn out to vote.

The more likely voters find out President Obama, the less they care for him and his extremely liberal policies. According to Rasmussen, Obama is now seen as politically liberal by 76% - up six points from a month ago and 11 points since he was elected. Forty-eight percent  now see Obama as very liberal - up 20 points since he was elected.

Total Junk Stats -- numbers do not add up to 100% not even close. "Strongly" stuff is obvious cherry-picking.

Nice try at number manipulation - but a first grader can see through that.

The Cinderella Effect and Sarah Palin.

    Palin 53% negative 40% favorable
    Obama 50% negative 40% favorable.

Palin's numbers from Washington Post/ABC News poll.

    Obama's from Rasmussen Reports.

For the Savior this is not good news.

Polls show how emotional we are in showing our political preferences. Bush put this country in the verge of collapse with inept and corrupt dealings everywhere, but still received support of many people. Obama is diligently addressing problems and coming with solutions. And, this is not good enough. Seems that's perceived as bad work. Why? Is this because he isn't white? what else if not.

  • Yeah Right 1 year ago

Jorge, you're going to get struck by lightning if you keep lying like that.

And BTW, the race card is dead. You libs have played it out.

I agree with Jorge Blackmore (above post) that Obama's every move is being "scrutinized" for ridiculous reasons. I know some hard right want to see him fail so bad.

Name a good thing Obama did for America in the last 6 months. NOTHING !

Obama is finally being exposed for the incompetent, arrogant hack that he is.

2010 can't come soon enough. The GOP should see major pickups in both houses, thereby minimizing the capacity for damage to this nation that this punk and his enablers can inflict.

So you take a Rasmussen poll that consistantly skews ~4-5 points to the right, ignore the "somewhat approves" versus "somewhat disapprove," and declare that because more people really hate Obama than really love him, he's failing. Sorry, but that's not an approval rating. In today's polarized environment, it's not surprising that so many "strongly disapprove." On the other hand, few "somewhat disapprove" compared to the much larger group that "somewhat approves."

And what's this about seeing Obama is liberal = not liking his policies? As a liberal, I see Obama as a fellow progressive, and I approve of his policies. Come back and try again when you've learned basic statistics.

@n/a: So saving the US financial system by keeping banks afloat and preventing a 1929-esque meltdown counts as nothing? Or slowing the pace of unemployment? Saving state legislatures from having to cut even more key services? Saving American lives by letting Iraqis control their own destiny? Helping auto companies while inducing Americans to burn less oil with the Cash-for-Clunkers program? Cutting weapons program that wasted taxpayer dollars? It's nice to know how broad-ranging "nothing" is to us Americans.

This examiner.com is totally bogus, rank amateur and not suitable as a source for anything. This just shows how the internet and blogs are completely below all credibility and not to be trusted even as aggregators but especially when it comes to analysis. What a complete joke.

What problems has Obama addressed and what solutions he has implemented have worked? Really he hasn't implemented anything? His own party is now turning against him. He couldn't pass a health care plan for dogs at this point. He still has not given any details as to what kind of plan he wants or come up with any ideas that work for paying for it. He cannot cut the 100,000,000 dollars out of his budget that he promised us he would. That deadline has come and gone with nothing being said about it. I ask this.... Name one thing Obama is responsible for that has made this country safer, created a job, saved us money, saved the country money, anything... just name something that has done anything positive for this country. Good luck with that one.

I am not suprised that the American people are awaking from a stupor. We pay the salary of the elected officials and also their retirement benifits. Do you think they will have this manadatory healthcare? Will they ever be limited in their abilty to choose? I think if a law affects the population then it should include the federal government to the highest level. I am certain if it became a program they had to lose or benifit from they would be careful to provide a good program.

Obviously the Libs don't like these results, because it makes their messiah look bad. But had these numbers showed strong approval for Barry, then they would be blasting them all over the media. So all they can say is that this poll is "stupid".

    WoW!

11% !!! that is indeed shocking....... NOT!! (how many neo-cons angry that Obama won't give them the war w/ Iran that they want, + the "joe the plumber" repubs who are still yelling "Sarah!, Sarah!" who are out there........not to mention the not-fewer-enough racists left in america..........all of whom are looking for any excuse to discredit Obama........

I'd say 11 percent going negative, is not so bad...not bad at all....considering.

B-Rad and n/a- To answer your question, maybe you should check out the Op-Ed in the NY Times. You might recognize the writer... search "Joe Biden" (saved/created jobs, saved country money, saved you money)

You also might look to the polls showing our approval rating increasing over seas with our allies, and our enemies. (made our country safer)

You might look at his veto threat to the defense budget if the F-22 plans are still included. (save you/country money)

He also hasn't passed a healthcare plan for dogs.. but by all means, write your congressman if you believe thats remotely relevant.

Of course, I say "you might look" but we all know you just take your talking points from drug addicted, obese, bigotted talk show hosts and havent had an original thought since 1999.. so we know you wont.

Total cherry picking. Don't count young people, don't count minorities (less likely to vote). Maybe they'd get even better numbers if they limit the poll to only those who listen to Limbaugh or watch Fox News at least three times a week.

    Gimme a break.

  • Stephan Andrew Brodhead For Congress 2 years ago

Obama is simply incompetent, a liability to Moderate/Conservative Democrats, and way beyond his depth. The Gates event should not have been elevated to the Whitehouse. Obama's Stimulus is just pork. His Cap and Trade is simply smoke and mirrors for a new revenue stream to waste. His health care will bankrupt the economy. Obama then decides to stir up the pot of racism, and use the same tactics he used as community organizer.......

  • Furi-Yuri 2 years ago

Likely voters are the only people that count. They are to only people worth polling. If you don't vote you don't count. Simple reality.

  • GH 2 years ago

Perhaps before making comments about the numbers people should familiarize themselves with what a Approval Index is.

It ONLY looks at Strongly Approve or Strongly Disapprove, that is what a Approval Index is and always has been.

To make comments saying the poll is junk or skewed because it doesn't add up to 100% or because it doesn't include other factors just shows you don't even understand what the poll is.

All you idiots that voted for this socialist cause he preached "change", you damn sure got it. Welcome to the USSA.

  • Laura C 2 years ago

Boy, you really are desperate to come up with some figures that are negative. This so called poll is bogus. His approval rating is still high, so get a clue people. I think that his remark about the police was absolutely true considering the problems that police dept has had in the past. It's a shame that people don't realize what is going on in America. That we have to make nice for the people who don't get it.

The People here who scream socialist are the biggest example of propaganda followers. How sad and silly they are. They must be descendants of the Salem witch trials. It's in their genes to be blind and ignorant.
