Obama and Biden exploiting the gun issue not addressing it. President Obama is proposing Executive Order to limit sales of gun ownership and ammunition capacity today based on Vice President Biden’s task force. Obama in true dramatic fashion is making this presentation in front of children who supposedly had written him letters pleading to take action on gun control. Obama refuses to acknowledge the root of these mass shootings. The wrong people illegally obtained a weapon and wreaked havoc in these respective communities.
Not one of the measures from Obama and Biden proposed today would have had any affect on the guns used in the 500 homicides in Chicago last year. In fact, Obama’s hometown of Chicago is on track to record 600 murders this year.
Sources close to the Oakland Examiner have told us that Adam Lanza, the Newtown shooter, went first to the high school but spotted he Newtown Police cars on campus. What a shock. Apparently, NRA Executive Vice President Wayne La Pierre’s observation, of the only way to stop a bad man with a gun is good man with a gun, is valid.
In my book, Deniers Liars & Connivers, I chronicled two instances which happened in Michigan where a responsible, law-abiding gun owners prevented possible homicides; one involved a woman, walking in a parking lot, sensed a stalker was about to attack her. She pulled her gun out and pointed it at the attacker. The suspect drove away in his car.
The other incident involved an elderly man who shot one of two armed assailants who broke into his home and were about to rob and beat him. Both law-abiding gun owners lived happily ever after. The suspects in both cases were convicted and sentenced to prison. In recent weeks, we’ve learned where legal gun owners thwarted attempted robberies and possibly murder in Georgia and Oklahoma.
The issue isn’t about high-powered guns, as the misinformed liberal gun-haters want you to believe. Otherwise, they would be holding all night vigils in our major cities like Detroit, Chicago and Los Angeles that are tragically becoming glorified war zones. They want the legal guns out of circulation not the criminals or their weapons.
Following Obama’s Executive Order, Democrats are poised to introduce legislation restricting the sale of hundreds of semi-automatic weapons. The House Republicans must make the first move and avoid the charge from Democrats that, ‘The Republicans are protecting the interests of the NRA instead of our children.’ They should introduce legislation requiring mandatory sentencing of 20 years when a criminal uses a gun in the commission of a felony; implement tight restrictions on violent video games and eliminate parole. The GOP can rightly say they are protecting children.
Obama and the Democrats are only using these kids and disgracing the victims. They’re not interested in reducing crime or violence. If Obama had any sincerity in him, he’d tell these kids his reckless spending has saddled each of them with over a $250,000 debt.
