A chaotic economy coupled with a troubled social situation on the home front and unparalleled instability overseas has the Syracuse community searching for some sense of direction for the future. Although Obama's approval rating is not very impressive he nevertheless appears to be the frontrunner for the November election at this time.
The Rasmussen Reports Daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 26% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as president, while thirty-nine percent (39%) Strongly Disapprove. In projections for 2012 match-ups President Obama nevertheless holds 46% against Mitt Romney with 42% or 49% to 39% against Gingrich.
However, the election has not been decided yet. In a consideration of Trust on Issues voters trust Republicans more than Democrats on the primary issue of the economy. In a recent national telephone survey it was found that that 47% of Likely U.S. Voters trust the GOP more when it comes to handling the economy, while 40% have more faith in President Obama's party. And so with the unstable economy at the heart of the debates over who can best govern the United States anything is still possible in November.
