On Tuesday NBC announced in a news release that David Axelrod, the man who helped Barack Obama get elected president twice, is moving on. His next career stop is MSNBC, where he will assume the role of senior political analyst. “He will contribute frequently across all broadcasts and platforms of both networks,” the memo read in part.
In his new capacity, Axelrod will share airtime with other esteemed political voices on NBC News and MSNBC, including those of former RNC chairman Michael Steele and former Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell.
Axelrod has been a regular guest on MSNBC programming, appearing on “Morning Joe,” “The Daily Rundown,” and “Andrea Mitchell Reports.” Perhaps now, as an employee, he will widen his range of appearances to include stints on the programs of other “esteemed political commentators” such as Rachel Maddow, Al Sharpton, and Lawrence O'Donnell.
