Obama administration denies fault for gas prices increase

The surprisingly swift rise in oil prices recently which has sent the average price for gasoline up is hurting many families which were already fighting to survive tough economic conditions. The Obama administration however says it is not responsible for this rise n in gas prices and feels the solution to the problem is difficult. Byron Tau has reported for Politico "Carney: No 'magic solutions' on gas priceces."

On Tuesday White House press secretary Jay Carney said there are no "magic solutions" to solve the problem of rising gas prices. The Obama administration denies there is any truth to charges by the Republicans that President Obama has not done enough to address rising gas prices. Carney has said "There are no magic solutions to rising oil prices and the pain that Americans feel at the pump. The fact is that the president is very aware of the impact that the global price of oil has on families and this is not something that this administration discovered, or rediscovered every spring, as some politicians do."

And denying that rising gas prices are were Obama's fault Carney has also said "This kind of situation comes that periodically, because of a rise in the price of oil globally, often results in, you know, magic solutions being put forward by politicians who may or may not know what they're talking about." He has gone on to say that the president is taking a comprehensive view of the problem which considers a long term look at reducing our dependence on foreign sources of energy while increasing production and developing alternative sources of fuel.

The Obama administration has gone on to explain that the rise in gas prices is clearly due to a variety of factors which effect the global price of gas. These factors include unrest in certain regions of the world and growth in areas like China and India. Clearly the tumultuous situation with Iran has been effecting prices. And so gasoline prices remain uncomfortably high today in a world in turmoil where it appears there really are no easy answers to the problem.
