Murphy
Oakland Raiders fourth round pick Louis Murphy proclaims himself to be a hard worker. He said that he hit it off with wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal when he came out to Alameda to meet with the Oakland Raiders at headquarters. After the selection of Darrius Heyward-Bey in the first round, he didn't expect the Raiders to give him a call.
Murphy, who was a team captain with the Gators in 2008, prides himself in being a hard worker. He says that whilst the Florida Gators run the "spread" offense, which is often a knock on college receivers, the Gators' version of spread, their routes are similar to pro-style routes.
"I got a call from the Raiders organization asking if I wanted to be a part of the Oakland Raiders, and I said, 'of course!'"
He said that the coaches were surprised by his football knowledge and his knowledge of the pro routes. He had a great visit and hit it off with the Lal.
"I don't think its going to be a big learning curve."
He says that he is a hard working player who is going to give it his best in everything he is asked to do. He comes from a National Championship program and believes that the veterans and recent picks have what it takes to be a winner.
He looks forward to catching passes from JaMarcus Russell, and says that he will go hard on the field.

I dont have a problem with hard workers but another reciever.... I am at a loss of words. I have gotten over Heyward-Bey. I know he can do better than everyone says he can but when you go for another WR and TE, it gets very stupid.
This just sucks for Arman Shields, Todd Watkins, Johnathan Holland and even Chaz Schilens... nobody is safe... the increased competition will bring the best WR for Russell, thats the only bright spot in that other WR pick.
This guy is actually the only thing I will call a good decision. And now everyones trying to justify the Mitchel pick by saying the bears were gonna take him with their next pick. Not sure I beleive that.
Its just a sad day, and not to say the DHB isnt going to be a decent player. This guy has a ton of weight on his shoulders now that Al reached again and the Nation responded very loudly. He is going to need time to develop and isnt going to come in and put up #1 type stats.
We could of had SO much better value.
The one thing everyone is missing is Al Davis never got involved with the head coach's decisions since Mike White's realm and up. Norv Turner and Lane Kiffin were a very big disappointment with their decision making and their inability to evaluate players. This information was disclosed by the coaches themselves. This years draft had the great John Madden's input and Tom Cable and Al Davis has expressed their gratitude. The one thing the average fan does not have knowledge about is the financial side. It is so easy to think that we has fans have all the answers. You have to remember, and please take it to heart. Al Davis loves the Raiders and will do everything he can to win. He cares about his players and the Raider Nation. So don't be so quick to judge just kick back and enjoy the ride because the day has come once again that everyone will fear the Raiders. So let it be written and let it be done.
I just watched the highlight video. While I liked what I saw as far as his toughness, and willingness to catch the ball on that video, what I also saw was a guy who looks like he's got the potential to become a "Showboater." I'm not against emotion, but I think it would be best served up in a non taunting way. I hope he does what he says, works hard, leads the team, and sets an example that I'd be proud to have my son follow. We sure need those type of players and coaches, and from what I've seen of Coach Cable, I don't think we are far from that anymore.
i say this is like there best selection pick
