Oakland Public Library features holiday activities this week

Make this season extra cheery by participating in warm and bright holiday activities with the Oakland Public Library. Whether it’s making snow globes, singing holiday songs, or enjoying a treat, there’s bound to be a nearby branch with fun things to do for the whole family this week.

Below is a schedule of all the upcoming seasonal events to get locals in the mood for the upcoming festivities. Click on the activity title for more information.

1. Holiday Ornament Making for Teens: Hurry this one starts today! Make the perfect ornament for your tree or to give as a gift and meet new friends, too.
When: Monday, Dec. 16 at 4:00 p.m. Where: Eastmont Branch

2. Create Winter Snow Globes: Make wonderful snow globes using glitter and more. When: Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 4:00 p.m. Where: Melrose Branch

3. Winter Holiday Sing-Along: Sing along with opera vocalist, Tanya Stum of the Piedmont Children’s Choir.
When: Tuesday Dec. 17 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Where: Diamond Branch

4. Design and Make Your Own Holiday Cards: Add a personal touch to the holiday cards for your friends and family.
When: Friday, Dec. 20 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Where: Cesar Chavez Branch

5. Winter Holiday Craft Presented by Alfred Luk: Make holiday crafts. You can use them for decorations or trimmings on the tree. For children 8 years or older.
When: Friday, Dec. 20 at 4:00 p.m. Where: Asian Branch

6. Winter Crafts: Artist, Dana Dart-Mclean will show kids and parents how to make winter crafts.
When: Saturday, Dec. 21 at 2:00 p.m. Where: Main Library

The Oakland Public Library will have all branches closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 24 and December 25. So, be sure to be a part of the holiday cheer before the library is closed.
