On Sunday, September 1, between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. the Oakland Pride festival was the place to be. Entering the gate at 20th Street & Broadway (19th St. BART Station) this celebration of unity returned to Oakland, CA with an intention rooted in equality and aspirations to live in a world that works for everyone. Another “Out in Oakland” campaign gave us a day filled with plenty of food, dance, song, lots of love and play.
With a long term goal of providing services and support for the challenges of LBGTQ at a future Community Center; this nonprofit is seeking sponsors and support from organizations, foundations and the everyday, ordinary people. Their intention is to especially support low income, elderly, the multi-cultural and our youth; the often times forgotten in any society. With this year's Pride festival, the reality of this goal begins.
The underlying principle of love supports unity, regardless of religion, propositions and opinions. The Originating Principle, Spirit or God makes no demand of sacrifice for love, “for love is sufficient unto love” ~Gibran
