Tim Stickel is Executive Director of Crossroads Pregnancy Center in Auburn Hills. He shares a bit about his occupation.
When asked about his job description, Tim says, 'the humorous version is I direct chaos. The truth is I over see all the staff (7 part time) and volunteers (174) with the help of an associate director and a board of directors. I do some fund raising, fix broken things, clean bathrooms and help people learn to help themselves."
Tim considers 'helping people learn to help themselves,' as the best part of his job.
A big challenge for Crossroads is funding. "We are a non-profit Christian ministry, supported by individuals, churches and businesses. As the economy in Michigan has gotten worse, the number of women and men with their children needing help, has increased almost beyond our capacity.
"In 2009 we saw over 2500 appointments, gave out over 70,000 diapers and wipes, taught abstinence in 15 schools, did over 300 pregnancy tests and 159 ultrasounds. We are here to help!"
Crossroads welcomes donations of time, money and disposable diapers and infant formula and clothing to assist mothers who choose to keep their babies.
