The MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and TV games for Tuesday, Oct. 8 will include two ALDS matchups which could produce the American League Championship teams. Both games are in Game 4 situations, with the Rays and Tigers on the ropes, needing a win. Today's Oakland A's vs. Detroit Tigers Game 3 will be among the televised and live stream MLB playoff games covered via TBS and the MLB's website.
An Oct. 7 article via NY Daily News reports that there was a near brawl between the two competing teams in Game 3. The incident occurred in the ninth inning after pitcher Grant Balfour and Victor Martinez got into a verbal exchange, causing both benches to clear. Despite all the drama, the Athletics managed to win the game 6-3 behind homeruns from Josh Reddick, Seth Smith and Brandon Moss. Moss reportedly broke a 3-3 tie with his solo HR in the fifth inning, with a Smith two run homer giving the A's the edge. Smith has become the player who has hit the most homeruns off Detroit pitcher Anibal Sanchez. Sanchez, who had led the AL in ERA with 2.57 this past season, gave up 8 hits and 6 runs over 8 innings on Monday.
Now Game 4 is set for Comerica Park, where the Tigers will need to step it up, or be sent out of the playoffs early, a season after they appeared in the World Series. To try to tie up the series, Detroit will be relying on Doug Fister on the mound today. Fister went 14-9 this past season with a 3.67 ERA and 159 strikeouts. On the other side will be Dan Straily, who has been in the pros for just a year but had a record of 10-8 this past season for the A's along with 124 strikeouts and a 3.96 ERA.
The Tigers Reportedly last year's Triple Crown winning player, Miguel Cabrera, has been struggling due to a groin issue, causing him problems in his movement when base running. He'll need to bring his top game on Tuesday, along with the rest of the lineup, which struggled to put runs on the board against the A's and their rookie pitcher. Will they be motivated by the home crowd enough to tie the series back up?
Odds makers currently have Detroit favored to win today with a line of -145 or higher at many books. The underdog Oakland Athletics carry a price of +135 or so ay many sports books. The over/under is set for a combined 7 1/2 runs, with some books as high as 8 runs.
Tuesday night's A's vs. Tigers game has a start time of 5:07 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Television coverage is scheduled for TBS for cable or satellite viewers. In addition, there is live streaming online subscription services available for viewers in the U.S., Canada and internationally.
