There's plenty of MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and TV games available for baseball enthusiasts on Monday, Oct. 7. Both of the ALDS and NLDS matchups will feature games spread across the day, with TBS and MLB network covering them. In addition, there will be live stream MLB playoffs via MLB's website for subscribers. Among those games will be Game 3 of the ALDS between the Oakland A's and Detroit Tigers, tied 1-1 in their series.
The Detroit Free Press reported on Oct. 6 that former suspended player Jhonny Peralta will start in Game 3 of the ALDS for the Tigers. Peralta was suspended for 50-games as part of the multiple players suspended due to connections with the Biogenesis performance-enhancing drug scandal. Peralta had a .303 average over the shortened season along with 11 home runs and 55 RBI's. Peralta had previously played in the Tigers' final series of the regular season, but this will be his first start, and extended game time, of the playoffs.
After losing a tough 1-0 loss to the A's in Oakland for Game 2, the Tigers will try to put more runs on the board at Comerica Park. Manager Jim Leyland said of his decision to use Peralta:
“I’m going to play Peralta. Try to get an extra-base bat in the lineup because we got to score some runs.”
In terms of pitching, Detroit sends Anibal Sanchez to the mound with a record of 14-8 and an ERA of 2.57. Sanchez went 8-3 overall at home this past season with a 2.70 ERA. Oakland will counter with right-handed pitcher Jarrod Parker (12-8, 3.97). Parker's last outing was a 7-5 loss at Seattle in the regular season, where he gave up 7 hits and 7 runs, striking out just 4 during his 4 innings of work.
The odds makers have Detroit as the favorites here today, with a line of -160 the highest at some books. The underdog Athletics are valued at +140 to +150 depending on the book, while the over/under is set around 7 1/2 runs for the combined total of the game. Weather reports indicate temperatures will reach a high of 61 today in Detroit with partly cloudy skies and a 20% chance of rain.
Monday's Oakland vs. Detroit ALDS Game 3 has a start time of 1:07 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on the MLB Network for cable and satellite TV viewers with the channel. In addition, U.S., Canadian and international viewers have the option to watch this game live streaming online.
