Runners in Southeast Wisconsin are on a mission, along with Shift Student Ministries at Oak Creek Assembly of God. The Speed the Light 5K, an annual missions fundraiser, is set for Saturday, September 28.
The timed race begins at 8 a.m., starting and finishing at Oak Creek Senior High School, 340 East Puetz Road, in Oak Creek.
Runners of all ages will race on a paved route, and strollers are allowed. Special awards will be presented to the first through third place male and female finishers, as well as the fastest teen boy and girl runners.
Registration costs $25 for the event, which is open to attendees of Oak Creek Assembly, Shift Student Ministries, and the general public. Online registration is available. Participants receive race tee shirts.
Proceeds from the Speed the Light 5K benefit Speed the Light, a worldwide Gospel missions outreach from the Assemblies of God Christian denomination. The special missions focus for the 2013 Speed the Light 5K in Oak Creek is twofold: funding church planting in India and helping to purchase a truck for a missionary in Laos.
