Chico is a brave man who was found wandering on H1 by their executive director. She pulled over, rescued him from the traffic, and brought him in to their shelter. Dirty, shaken, and suffering from a huge mass- they quickly made him feel comfortable with a sudsy bath, food for his belly, and a soft bed to lay his sweet head on.
Their wonderful volunteer coordinator saw Chico and decided to bring him home as a foster for continued care. She took him to the vet and it was determined that the mass was a severe left perineal hernia. This is located right above the anus and therefore makes going to the bathroom for Chico VERY, VERY difficult. He also has a mass on his head, enlarged prostate, severe periodontal disease... but has a HUGE SPIRIT. They believe Chico will make a full recovery, but will need surgery to help get him healthy.
The estimate for Chico's treatment - from x-rays, pre-lab blood work, surgery, meds, hospital stay, etc- is to the tune of about $3000. So far they have raised $615.
Please help them help him by contributing to this fund, YOU are helping save Chico's life. As a non-profit shelter with a no-kill philosophy, The Oahu SPCA goes to great lengths to provide medical care for the island's abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. They rescue, rehabilitate and re-home more than 100 animals each month, many like Chico with extreme medical conditions.
