O little bazaar of Bethlehem

See also

Eight booths will line the walkway this Saturday, December 14, in the basement town of ancient Bethlehem (located for one day only in Mukwonago). Come learn about carpentry using first-century B.C. methods. Work with wicker (or whatever) to assemble a useful basket for your wares. Practice making pottery. These are a few examples of what children and adults can participate in at this interactive village of Jesus’ birth. The Rev. and Mrs. Dan Williamson and Hillside Community Church are hosting the event free of charge to all.
This particular activity is not new to the Williamsons, who are themselves new to the area. In Utah where they formerly lived, two to three hundred folks would come out to visit “Bethlehem” annually. Here in Mukwonago music will also catch the ear, for special groups plan to participate: brass ensembles and a couple of handbell choirs, to say the least. This part of the festivity (for it will be one) will take place from 4:00 to 7:00 in the evening. Then a special feature follows: Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus, sung and played by the Son Light Choir and Orchestra. Might this be reminiscent of the angelic host whom some shepherds met in the fields around the original Bethlehem over two thousand years ago?
This week’s venue will be supplied with refreshments, including authentic homemade Jewish treats. Coloring materials will be available for children, and there will be a drawing (other sense of the word) for a couple of door prizes. Hopes are to make this all something to look forward to again.
Hillside Community Church is located at the corner of Highways NN and EE, across the road from the high school car park. Officially the address is S 93 W 30580 County Road NN. Visit Hillside on the Internet or call for more information by dialing (262) 363-8025, and then pressing Option 1.
