Sacramento Republic F.C. lost to the hometown Oklahoma City F.C. 2-0 Saturday night in front of a home crowd of 4,010 fans. The loss ends the Republic's five game undefeated streak. Oklahoma City improves their record to 4-7-2 whilst Sacramento falls to 6-4-2. The Energy breaks up the four way tie for ninth with the victory and moves into the eighth spot in the USL Pro standings along with the Charleston Battery. The Republic is in fourth place tied with the Rochester Rhinos.
The game was a wild affair due to the gusty weather that plagued the teams during game play. Sacramento controlled the ground game but were unable to punch it in on offense. Several missed key plays along with losing a player to a red card (Ivan Mirković in the 31st minute) and being forced to play with only ten players for a next fifty-nine minutes doomed the Republic. The Energy took advantage of all of Sacramento' miscues and scored in the 36th minute (Adda Djeziri assisted by Christian Duke) and in the 81st (Michael Thomas assisted by Steven Perry) to seal the victory.
The loss is the first Sacramento has been shutout this season. This was the third time in USL Pro play a player was red carded (it has happened twice in U.S. Open Cup action as well). The Republic will travel home to prepare for their first home game at Bonney Field next Friday night against the Colorado Rapids Reserves. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M. and tickets for that game have been sold out. You can either watch the game online at http://www.sacrepublicfc.com/matchday or listen to them live at KHTK 1140 A.M.
