O'Fallon was named one of the safest cities in the U.S. in the recently released City Crime Rankings 2013: Crime in Metropolitan America by CQ Press.
The city was ranked as number three in the category of Lowest Crime Rate for cities with a population between 75,000-99,999.
Also, O'Fallon was the only city in Missouri to be ranked in the the top 10 safest cities for all population categories. This is the fourth time the city has been included in the "safest cities" ranking in the report of U.S. crime rates.
The 310 cities in the rankings were divided into population categories: 500,000 residents (33 cities), 100,000-499,000 (244 cities) and 75,000-99,999 (155 cities).
The report includes numbers, rates and trends for total crime, violent crime, murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assault, property crime, burglary, larceny-theft, and motor vehicle theft.
The recognition follows another positive report. Last year a CNN/Money magazine report listed O'Fallon as the 39th best place to live in the United States.
