O'Fallon garden, kite flying event next Saturday at city's Ft. Zumwalt Park

Spring is here and it's time to learn about gardening, shop for plants, get yard accessories, and learn to fly a kite. The O'Fallon Garden Expo and Kite Flying event will be held next Saturday, April 12 at the city's Ft. Zumwalt Park .

The event runs from 9am - 1pm at the Darius Heald Home located in the park. Guided tours of the house will be available during event hours for a $2 per person.

Celebrate Arbor Day that day with the Mayor and the Twin Chimneys Earth Club as they plant a new tree in the park at 9:30am. The first 50 families into the park will also receive free saplings.

Children's craft events include making new home items from common recyclables.

Learn about Hydrangeas from St. Louis Master Gardener Anne Kirkpatrick, who will speak from 11-11:45am.

Decorate and construct a kite. Then, get flying lessons from the Gateway Kite Club. The club will also have a special flying demonstration at 10am.
