O'Brien's Market is a real gem.

Immaculately clean, wonderful produce and meat counters, a deli to die for--these are great reasons to shop for groceries there. But the main reason why wine lovers flock there is for the wine selection...and their great wine steward, Tom Bender.

O'Brien's has weekly wine tastings, and this week's tasting features wines from all over Italy. Tuscany, Umbria, Vento, Sicily...the nation is well represented at this event. Expect Pinot Grigio, Lugara, Toscana Rosso, and probably a Chianti or two thrown in for good measure.

Weekly tastings are Thursday through Sunday. Thursday's tasting runs from 4-7 pm; Friday through Sunday, wines will be poured from 2-5 pm. Tastings are $5 per person.

O'Brien's wine tastings are at their wine bar in the Dale Road location ONLY, 4120 Dale Road (at the intersection of Dale and Pelandale Rds) in Modesto. (209) 545-8100
