Long time Stern Show rivals 'Opie & Anthony,' who also work at Sirius XM, claimed to have come across a copy of Howard Stern's vacation schedule and leaked it on the internet earlier this month. Thursday's live Howard Stern Show broadcast was the first official confirmation that the O&A schedule was a hoax.

Thursday was also the first time that Stern has confirmed that the lack of available information about his schedule isn't mere incompetence on the part of the publicity department--it's an audience manipulation tactic.

When a fan called in Thursday to ask Stern about clarifying the live show schedule, Stern replied:

"I will never post that. I want to confuse the audience. Then you have to tune in every day and see if I'm here."

Howard Stern's reduced work schedule was part of his new contract with Sirius XM.
