Percy Sutton served as the borough president of Manhattan in the 1970s. He is one of the leaders that pushed for the ING New York City Marathon to run through all five boroughs. Throughout his life, he remained a supporter of NYRR and its events. He passed away in 2009.
The Percy Sutton Harlem 5k Run will go through some of the most historic parts of Harlem. Running along Jackie Robinson Park, it circles St. Nicholas Park. The race is quite hilly for the first mile, but flattens out with some downhills for the remainder of the race.
Registration for the race is available online until Thursday, August 22. Entry fees are $30 for NYRR members and $34 for non-members. If space allows, race day registration is available for $35 for NYRR members and $39 for non-members.
The race is a scored race and counts as a marathon qualifier race.
