The NYPD is searching for the suspect in a sexual assault that occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013.
A 22-year-old female was walking up the subway stairs, exiting the L train at Lorimer Street and Metropolitan Avenue, when the suspect approached her from behind. The suspect grabbed the woman, touching her buttocks and attempted to touch her vagina. At that point, the victim fought with the suspect. During the struggle, the suspect grabbed the woman's cell phone, but she was able to retrieve it before he fled on foot in an unknown direction. The victim suffered minor injuries and the suspect is still on the loose.
The suspect is described as an Hispanic male in his 30's, standing approximately 5'9" and weighing between 180 and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with light colored lettering on the front, dark colored pants and dark colored sneakers.
The NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspect from a camera inside the Lorimer Street L train subway station. In the video, the suspect is seen walking through a turnstile immediately after the female victim. He appears to be watching her as she walks out of the camera's view. He is then seen glancing around the station as he follows her to the stairwell.
