The Nymi bracelet will literally be the key to your future, as it will unlock everything from your car door to your computer or any password protected device. With a Nymi bracelet, your world is only a heartbeat away as this Nymi device uses the beat of your heart to render the device active. If someone else puts the bracelet on, it won’t work, according to CNet on Sept. 3.
Much like a fingerprint, folks have a heartbeat pattern that’s unique to only them and the Nymi picks this pattern up and allows this bracelet to work. If it is worn by anyone else, the device turns off.
The startup company Bionym expects to have their Nymi bracelet act as a debit or credit card in the future, allowing you to wave your futuristic bracelet at the cash register to pay for your purchases. Today the prototype is focused on storing and delivering passwords.
The prototype suggests that this is not the most attractive piece of jewelry you’ll ever wear, but it certainly will be the most functional accessory you’ll ever own.
The first batch of Nymi bracelets are designed to work with an app on Android, IOS, Macs and Windows. You can preorder the Nymi today for $79 and that price is good for the first 25,000 people who reserve their bracelet. After that the price jumps to $99. They are expected to ship out in the Spring of 2014.
This means all those passwords that you store in your head will now be stored in your bracelet. If this prototype delivers the way it promises, this Nymi bracelet definitely has a place in society!
