Nylea, God of the Hunt is one of the newest "Theros" spoilers revealed Aug. 31, 2013 during the PAX Prime "Magic" party. Featured in Wizards of the Coast's upcoming expert "Magic: The Gathering" expansion set "Theros," Nylea, God of the Hunt is a powerful green mythic rare that swings early and also fuels your late game.
Nylea, God of the Hunt 3G
Legendary Enchantment Creature - God (Mythic Rare)
As long as your devotion to green is less than five, Nylea isn't a creature. (Each G in the mana costs of permanents you control counts towards your devotion to green.)
Other creatures you control have trample.
3G: Target creature gets +2/+2 until end of turn.
Because Nylea, God of the Hunt is a god, she's naturally indestructible. Giving all your creature trample, Nylea, God of the Hunt is pretty bonkers when paired with her signature weapon Bow of Nylea (if the rumor proves accurate). Although it take quite a bit of mana to use her activated ability, Nylea, God of the Hunt can help ensure a late game win or throw off an opponent's combat math by allowing your creature to survive while killing theirs (or them).
It's when you've reached a devotion to green of five that Nylea, God of the Hunt really shines. With a little mana ramp from Elvish Mystic it's possible to play Nylea, God of the Hunt on turn three and start swinging on turn four. An indestructible 6/6 creature that can grow larger and can't be taken out by the set's flagship planeswalker Elspeth, Sun's Champion (which you know everyone will be trying to break). Your adversary will need to exile Nylea, God of the Hunt with Chained to the Rocks or another card in order to deal with her.
How will you use Nylea, God of the Hunt?
