Nyla Hammond Interview Part IV: Nyla on Mickey Mouse

http://www.examiner.com/music-in-los-angeles/nyla-interview-part-iii-class-act  What if you took the best parts of New York and the best parts of Los Angeles and the two cities come together in a tale of friendship that benefits the music fan most of all: you would have NYLA. New York and Los Angeles. A perfect tale of two cities. One's stature in Los Angeles most often is determined by hard work, a genuine spiritual aura of beauty and quality of art- by embracing the enduring, iconic, adorable, playful quality of Mickey Mouse.

Which brings us back to the ubiquitous genius of the musician Nyla- an artist whom Los Angeles locals especially continue requesting. This Los Angeles native has a great sense of humor, including about herself. Plus, it is cool that her name embodies two of the most cinematic cities outside of Disney World.

W.E. On stage you have a wonderful energy about you and your smile glows with a rare genuine quality. Yet, you proudly present pictures on your blog with a very endearing scowl and what appears to be none other than a Mickey Mouse http://nylamusic.blogspot.com/p/about.html hat

N.H Why, thank you! I really like to bring positive music to my listeners so I have a lot of songs that are playful and uplifting. I don’t take myself too seriously—in the sense that I like to be myself and I encourage others to do the same! With that said, a lot of songs that I have written reflect this side of my personality, but one that really pops out to me is a song called “Gonna be Late.” I have yet to perform this song in front of a live audience, but it is a very playful song that describes the frustration of running late to something you really have to get to, and all the obstacles that prevent you from getting somewhere on time. As I said, that is a silly one, and for now, I’ll keep that song to myself hahaha.

Traffic may be tough in Los Angeles sometimes but if you are going to a Nyla concert, then leave extra time- you don't want to find you are "Gonna be late" for someone of this endearing personality, artistic statue, and musical quality.
