A stylish crowd filled a hidden courtyard for outerwear specialists Allegri on February 16th. The stage was set for wow with umbrellas strung across the sky, and a raised platform inhabited by faceless mannequins wearing coats from Allegri's archives.
During the catered (creamy risotto with a choice of mushroom, lobster, or prosciutto) event, a stylish crowd dazzled as much as the models who walked the outdoor runway. Allegri showed outerwear made for the collections of designers such as Giorgio Armani, Martin Margiela, and Romeo Gigli.
Trends in the crowd ran toward fur coats and jackets. One gentleman wore a sequinned puffer jacket in aqua, while most wore more traditional trench styles. Looks tended to be dressy casual, with small pops of color. as in bright red flats, or a kaleidescopic top shot through with royal purple. A cropped motorcycle jacket with crisp white shirt and black jeans was an easily stealable look.
One of the most photographed people was Alina Fayer, who does marketing for website www.artistspringboard.com. Her red dress with ruffle detail and floppy hat were offset by a luxurious brown mink coat. Large sunglasses a la Marc Jacobs' ss2011 homage to Iris from Taxi Driver gave her an air of mystery. She looked like a character from Dynasty.
