With a backdrop that was inspired by the golden age of the Russian Opera and the interiors of Saint Petersburg’s Mariinsky. Theatre Christian Siriano transported media to a glamorous and opulent time. Filled with sophisticated shapes and embossed fabrications, sensual jewel-tones and shimmers of gold, this truly has to be his coming out party. “An evening at the opera was on my mind when I was designing, and I imagined what these women attending would wear, how they might style each look together for fall. There were whispers of Russian military details and a very regal 1880’s influence. This modern and powerful collection goes extremely well for today’s sexy woman.
This collection was nothing short of show-stopping but the final gown, a beaded illusion gown took the breath away from everyone in the room. It was mesmerizing as this fit to the body sleek silhouette glided down the center stage. Was it sheer yes, but it was elegant. These were red-carpet gowns, no if, ands or buts. The two cocktail dresses are the perfect after 5 option for young starlets on the red carpet.
The only thing that could have stolen attention away from the collection were Sirianos shoes. His longtime collaboration with Payless were playful and sinful at the same time. Velvets and metallic’s were simply calling out to be seen. From an evening platform sling-back in black patent to a sculptural pump with a Deco aesthetic to the black velvet with pleated fan design on the vamp and the ‘military-esque bootie’ they were simply on the list of must buy. While most will be ‘altered a bit for Payless, they are now available for just $30.
Christian Siriano, while forever will be associated with Project Runway is truly the golden boy of the shows series. This seasons collection, I do think is one of his best yet. This is what it must feel like to be the crown prince.
