Fresh from NY Fashion Week's en scene brow-busting super star stylist, Joey Healy, comes the latest buzz of bold, beautiful and barely-there eye brows....If there’s one thing celebrity brow-shaper Joey Healy knows is what’s hot and what’s not. And during NY Fashion Week the celebrity brow guru reports a trio of distinct brow trends on the runways: bold and sculpted, natural and wild and bleached and barely there.
Healy says that bold old brows (that are done correctly) are his favorite. “They are thick yet defined, full yet groomed and dense yet manicured.” In order to achieve the perfect eyebrow the three most important things to remember are proportion, balance and facial harmony. Brow stylists at these NYFW shows achieved a perfect balance of the three, displaying thick brows that were still feminine and refined.
Okay, the runways also showed some unique brow-raising approaches. But these brows are, for the most part, untouched and allow the wearer to have a much more natural look to their eyebrows. The resulting look is a much softer brow with an arch that looks au natural. To get that look use the Joey Healy Brow Renovation Serum ($125, available at joeyhealy.com), and the Joey Healy Duo Brow Brush to brush them at an upward angle ($28, available at joeyhealy.com).
Bleached is the buzz
Wait a minute, the biggest eyebrow buzz of fashion week surrounded bleached or barely-there brows. Designers like Alexander Wang and Marc Jacobs had their models sport bleached eyebrows down the runway while showing their Fall 2014 collections (although Jacobs had his models faintly tint their eyebrows after bleaching). Since a specific type of bleach must be used on the eyebrows, this cosmetic procedure is best to be left for professionals. For those that want to try the look with flexibility, Joey recommends experimenting with one of the Luxe Brow Powders from the Joey Healy Eyebrow Collection ($28, available in Raven, Tobacco, Corduroy and Equestrian at joeyhealy.com).
