Milan is where editors, buyers, bloggers and spectators unite for one sole purpose…fashion adoration! This is where the trends for next fall begin and this is where the inspirations are born for what we know as trickle down to the mass fashion brands. So, in addition to finding these exact clothes at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Jeffrey, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, you will also be feeling their influence at stores like Zara, H&H, Forever 21 and even The Gap.
Sometimes you get exactly what you expect and this time I was hoping for fabulous cloths and I got it! Bravo to Massimiliano Giornetti who has made me a believer! The man delivered a spectacular fall 2011 and this year he has done the same and this year he reinforces his power and the famed and revered brand that had lost its way when it came to ready to wear.
Okay, so this collection is far more derivative than last fall but this year Fall is not short on sharp tailoring, fur, military looks, lace, sheerness, leather and most of all YSL. There are certain things that will always look good and since Ferragamo is a very stable brand with a more classically chic clientele, Mr. Giornetti has delivered in spades! There is an art to tweaking a look and this art is not lost on this man… think Old Masters … think renaissance man and I mean that literally!
From the lean suits to the reinterpreted off the shoulder tops with tiered skirts, from the lean leathers to the almost ethereal evening pieces, this is a hands down winner of the first order. As anyone knows, who rad me regularly, I am a big proponent of good clothes, clothes that sell and clothes that need no explanation. This designer clearly has found his customer and has the common sense to keep building on it.
Since so many of those who review collections fail to ever see any past references, this collection will either be refreshingly chic or possibly too boring for the untrained amateur eye. Mr. Giornetti gets my vote!
