NYC fashion; what's in store..Milan Fall 2012.. . Pucci

Milan is where editors, buyers, bloggers and spectators unite for one sole purpose…fashion adoration!  This is where the trends for next fall begin and this is where the inspirations are born for what we know as trickle down to the mass fashion brands.  So, in addition to finding these exact clothes at Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Jeffrey, Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, you will also be feeling their influence at stores like Zara, H&H, Forever 21 and even The Gap.

Did I like it? … Yes!  Did I love it? …. No!  Peter Dundas changed the DNA of the brand from a printed jersey dress for socials into a smoldering sexy brand for PYT’s.  I admire him as he had not had much luck in his previous positions but found his footing here with Pucci.

The opening short black outfits were true to the new DNA and vocabulary of the brand but then there was a sharp 90 degree turn that took Mr. Dundas to pastels which seems to be a recurring theme in Milan.  The result is the same as that this was not the wisest choice to take on the Easter egg pastels for Fall and they didn’t necessarily translate to deliver the message of the collection.  In conjunction with this “wrong turn” is the fact that the prints were less than appealing so it was pretty much a double whammy there.

After trying to recover from the wrong turn we hit bumpy territory as the last segment of the show was surely not as solid as it had started which is unfortunate.  I am always wondering why designers cant stick to what they do well and keep doing and keep raising the bar instead and straying into unchartered waters and inevitably taking on water and dangerously close to sinking?  I am of the school that raising the bar for one’s self is substantially more difficult than experimentation.
