Well, the fashion train has started its journey for Spring 2012. The first stop is New York City, primarily at Lincoln Center. So if you are wondering why there are no hotel rooms or dinner reservations, or taxis…consider yourself informed…Fashion is in town!
See what will be filling your favorite shopping emporia; be it Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue or Fifth Avenue or Madison Avenue.
There have been very few moments in my career where I can say I reacted emotionally to viewing a collection…other than in a negative way. Ralph Rucci/Chado provided me one of the most pivotal reactions that I have experience during my tenure in fashion.
Okay, these are not the clothes of mass market or mass appeal, but these are the clothes of connoisseurs of fashion and style. Mr. Rucci has created a distinctive vocabulary that he rarely if ever strays from and continually speaks in the most fluent manner. Many of his signature pieces are unimaginable feats of construction yet show themselves in the purest of line and form. The hand is more than deft when designing and the result is without equal in these times.
Rarely can I describe collections as filled with nuance and purity of design as most collections are filled with the obvious aspects of fashion, yet Mr. Rucci offers us, for example, the arc of a sleeve that conforms more to the natural state of its wearer rather than the straight cut sleeve. He is the master of evolution not revolution and it appears that he is nearing a zenith in his creativity.
Simply stated, Ralph Rucci is to fashion, what Harry Winston is to jewelry…and that being said, there is no finer quality in material, workmanship or design.
If you are a fan of slick, soigne, sophisticated and pure of line, then these clothes are for you! Ralph Rucci is to be studied on a visual basis as well as from the point of view of being a manufacturer of apparel.
P.S. these are clothes that speak for themselves..either you get it or you dont....I GET IT !
