NYC puts e-cigarettes in the same category as cigarettes when it comes to smoking in public places. This means that you can no longer spew water vapor from your mouth in a public location.
According to Fox News on Dec. 20, the NYC Council has banned e-cigarettes in public venues, grouping them in with the real cigarettes, which have many a bit perturbed to say the least.
The tubes called e-cigarettes create water vapor, the same thing that comes out of a tea kettle or a dishwasher machine on the dry cycle. High-profile bills were voted on last-minute by 20 out-going council members. They passed the vote on the e-cigarettes, foam containers and the creation of a federal dollar tracking website.
The members voted “only after spending hours making tearful farewell addresses.” Now these three bills, which were all voted in, will go to Mayor Michael Bloomberg. Folks expect that he will sign the ban on e-cigarettes and the bill on foam containers.
Once he signs these bills, they go into effect four months later. It looks like the e-cigarettes in public places will soon be a thing of the past in the Big Apple. Say goodbye to folks inhaling water vapor in public in NYC, but soon it may be other cities too.
