NY suspect killed: 19-hour standoff ends

The NY shooting suspect was killed by police after a 19-hour standoff. The NY suspect killed has been identified as Kurt Myers. He is believed to be responsible for Wednesday's shooting at a barber shop in Mohawk Valley that left four people dead. On March 14, NBC News reported that the 64-year-old suspect was shot and killed by police after he opened fire and killed a dog.

Myers allegedly set his house on fire before taking a gun to John’s Barber Shop and firing in what police are calling a "totally unprovoked" incident. Two people were killed at the barber shop. He then went to Gaffey’s Fast Lube in Herkimer where he shot and killed two more people.

The NY suspect killed today had been involved in a police standoff overnight. Myers entered an abandoned bar and was quickly surrounded by police and K-9 units. It wasn't until this morning that Myers made a move, opening fire on police and killing one of their dogs. Around 8:00 a.m. police moved in. They cautiously entered the building and were able to take out Myers quickly.

Guns and ammunition were found at Myers' home but there hasn't been much evidence supporting why Myers decided to go on a shooting rampage. He didn't have much of a criminal record aside from a 1973 DUI.

The NY suspect was killed before he could shoot any one else.
