NY Giants Roundup - 08/13/11 - Giants drop preseason opener to Carolina Panthers

The NY Giants dropped the first game of the preseason to the Carolina Panthers, 20-10. Some news and notes from the game:

  • Quarterback Eli Manning was 4 for 9 for 36 yards. Sage Rosenfels stood out, going 13 for 19 for 129 yards.
  • Ahmad Bradshaw had 5 carries for 21 yards.
  • Domenik Hixon had 5 receptions for 86 yards.
  • LB Michael Boley got the scoring started with a 56-yard interception return for a touchdown.
  • Rookie Safety Tyler Sash had 4 solo tackles and caused a fumble.
  • Kicker Lawrence Tynes left the game in the fourth quarter with a thigh contusion. Tyles took a helmet to his leg right after he had a field goal blocked. Prior to the block, Tynes had missed on two out of three field goals on the night.
  • The Giants only score after Boley’s interception return was on a 38-yard field goal from Tynes in the third quarter.
  • The Giants next preseason game is next Monday, August 22nd at home against the Chicago Bears.
