Over the weekend, NY Giants defensive lineman Jason Pierre-Paul withdrew from his scheduled appearance with TNA Impact Wrestling. Pierre-Paul was supposed to have an in-ring confrontation with Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle. Jason cited fatigue from a long NFL season as the reason for his withdrawal. However, TNA was able to secure another Giants football player to replace Pierre-Paul. According to a Monday February 13th report by FOXSports.com, New York Giants RB Brandon Jacobs will replace Pierre-Paul and have an in-ring encounter with Kurt Angle at Monday's taping of Impact Wrestling.
The taped episode will air on Thursday February 16th on SPIKE TV beginning at 9PM est. Jacobs is listed at 6'4" and 264 pounds. He's a bruising running back who has never been shy of making controversial comments via the media.
WWE RAW Preview for Monday February 13th, Shawn Michaels to return
Jacobs is actually a better fit for TNA as he has more personality than Pierre-Paul and has been involved in several on the field and off the field confrontations. His most notable confrontation in 2011 was with the New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan. Last week, Jacobs also lashed out against the wife of Patriots' star QB Tom Brady who blasted Patriots players for not doing enough to help her husband out in the Super Bowl on Sunday February 3rd. Jacobs and his team mates defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl 42.
Last year, Kurt Angle had an in-ring encounter with Jets line back Bart Scott who is a big wrestling fan. Jacobs will not be allowed to wrestle any match, but you can expect some sort of physical encounter.
