It's almost 2014, of one of the most important technology surges in decades, and small businesses are still trailing behind in terms of their businesses technology. According to a survey conducted by online marketing firm, Yodle, small business owners use more technology in their personal lives than for their businesses.
So this year, Event Management (the organizers of NYXpo), is spotlighting technology for small businesses. The 9th Annual NYXpo, which is being held at the Javits Center on October 17th, has coordinated with exhibitors to make technology and social media demos and information prominent elements of the event in an attempt to raise the bar on small business usage.
“We’re committed to creating each NYXpo with maximum opportunity for small business owners to do better business in continually evolving markets,” said Event Management President Marc Sherer. “This year, we placed great emphasis on technology and social media to provide our attendees with the tools and education they need to take their businesses to that next level in today’s business arena.”
Here are a few eye-opening statistics that demonstrate the pressing initiative:
- Less than 50 percent of small business owners have websites
- Most small business websites are not optimized for mobile
- Only 51 percent use accounting technology
- 39 percent use appointment setting software
- 25 percent for customer relationship management (CRM)
- Only 15% use acquisition technology
Sherer, adds, “With such great advancements in technology and the depth of education available at NYXPO, every small business that wants to dive deeper into technology can learn how to do so at the show,” said Sherer. “There’s always a new version of something coming out. You have to stay ahead of the curve just to keep pace. That’s why this show is always fresh, inventive, valuable and free for attendees who take advantage of our advance registration, so do it today!”
CBS Local Digital Media's self-service advertising platform will be introduced at the event along with Microsoft’s Get2Modern booth, which will educate users on how to upgrade to the next best operating system when XP support comes to an end in 2014.
Small business owners in the NY and surrounding areas are encouraged to attend the expo to expand their technological knowledge and horizons for their future efforts.
