When considering ideas for healthy snacks for family and self on a budget, good nutrition is a challenge. Foods available at bargain outlets and Dollar stores’ lack selection to whole unprocessed foods. Snacks at these stores are usually limited to cookies and flavored crackers, along with candy. Availability also differs at locations and brand of store, so creativity must be used. Below are a few ideas families and individuals can put together when income is low, but nutrition is a valued.
- Whole grain/ wheat crackers and tuna
- Tomato soup
- Milk mixed with packet of flavored protein powder
- Cheese with crackers
