What's up with supps? In this multi-part series I will discuss some of the more common supplements that bodybuilders take on a regular basis. You may recognize some of them and even be taking a few of them yourself. But do you know why you are taking a given supplement and how it works?
As bodybuilders, we all fall prey to the desire to be the absolute best we can be. Especially in the begining of our careers, we will follow just about any crazy diet, employ any training method and swallow any magic pill that promises us the results we so strongly desire.
One of the best things we can do for ourselves prior to taking any nutritional supplement is to become educated about that substance. Some important questions to ask are:
- What is the supp for?
- How does it work?
- What are the side effects?
- What is the proper dose for you?
- What is the proper way to take the supplement?
These questions can be daunting with all the conflicting information available. Supplement companies know their audience well and know exactly what to say to entice us just enough to make that high dollar purchase.
