With the rate of cancer affecting one out of every two men and one out of every 2.5 women we need to do all we can to avoid this disease that plagues the life of so many. It's essential to eat in a way that will help our bodies fight against it so that we can genuinely live and feel good, having enough energy to make it through each day.
Our world has changed and what used to be eaten to maintain good health isn't good enough anymore. We have pesticides and genetically modified produce, pollution (which spreads over produce and grass, and the cows eat the grass and it ends up in our milk products and beef), additives in animal feed, added hormones in cows, more electro magnetic fields (EMFs) than ever before (emanating from all electronic devices and microwaves), BPAs (they are contained in the lining of our canned foods), and a bunch of other things that contribute to cancer.
Don't despair! If living a healthy life is something you desire there are a few things that will put you in control of keeping cancer from visiting you. The first thing is eat lots of produce! A healthy immune system is the cornerstone of good health.
Produce builds your immune system. Produce is where most of your vitamins, minerals, enzymes (contained in uncooked produce), phytonutrients and antioxidants come from. It really is that simple. Cancer cannot proliferate in a body where a strong immune system is constantly killing off anything that does not belong in your body.
Another benefit to eating a lot of produce is that it produces a PH balance in the body that is more alkaline. Cancer cannot live in an environment that has an alkaline state of 7.4. Sugar, meats, hard cheeses, alcohol, ice cream and anything made with wheat flour are among the highest acid forming foods, so these are a no no or at least should not be consumed often to obtain a cancer-free life. Most produce is alkaline forming and can bring your PH balance into that sweet range of 7.5 - 7.2.
