Nutcracker Tea at Rosen Shingle Creek, part two: Ballet and other entertainment

See also

The sumptuous never-ending buffet of finger sandwiches, tea and other beverages, and tempting desserts is enough of a draw at the Nutcracker Tea at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort, but food is just one part of the overall experience. True to its name, the tea features scenes from the classic ballet performed by the talented students of the Elizabeth Parsons School of Dance and Windermere Ballet Community Theater.

The dancers perform selected scenes from the holiday classic show, with Clara, Harlequin, Columbine, the Russian, and the Sugar Plum Fairy all taking the stage. The only downside is that the performance is too short; I could easily have watched several more numbers, but I know the tea is geared to younger children so it works well for their attention span.

In addition to the Nutcracker, you're greeted by singers as you enter the Nutcracker Tea, and they perform throughout the event. Santa Claus is on hand to hear from good little girls and boys, and a free photo is included. The ballet performers also come out after their show for a photo opportunity.

Click the slideshow accompanying this article for scenes from the entertainment. The carolers and Santa make for a very festive Christmas atmosphere, and the Nutcracker performance is frosting on the cake...or, more appropriately, raspberry jam on the scone.

Speaking of scones, if you missed part one of this article go here for a slideshow of all the tasty high tea options. The tea is over for the year, but the Rosen hotels have plenty of other holiday happenings, which you can find on their website.
