Nursing Home in Warren County up for sale

Warren County Purchasing Department will be accepting sealed proposals for the purchase of the county -owned Westmount Nursing Home located in the town of Queensbury.
Proposals for the nursing home will be accepted until February 7, 2013 at 3:00PM. Late proposals will be refused. All proposals must be in writing and submitted in a sealed envelope marked Nursing Home Sale RFP. Forms can be downloaded at the Warren County website, www.warrencountyny.gov .
Sealed proposals can be mailed to Warren County Human Services Building, 3rd Floor, Office of the Purchasing Agent, 1340 State Route 9, Lake George, NY 12845.
Warren County is stating that the one main requirement for the sale of the nursing home is that the property must be continued to be used as a comprehensive skilled nursing facility. Any other use for the property will be rejected. Warren County criteria for selling the nursing home will be which proposal is in the best interest of the county, county residents, nursing home residents and nursing home employees.
Currently Westmount Nursing Home is an 80 bed skilled nursing facility located on 8 acres at 42 Gurney Lane, Queensbury. Warren County purchased the property in 1919. Prior to Warren County owning the property the main building was originally created in 1910 as a hospital to treat tuberculosis.
The property was sold to Warren County by two deeds. At the time of the sale there was a restriction in both deeds stating that the properties, “had been duly selected and approved as a site for the establishment of a county hospital in and for Warren County for the care and treatment of persons suffering from the disease known as tuberculosis.” Warren County continued running the hospital until it was no longer needed and shut down.
On February 7, 1981 the building was re-opened as the Westmount Infirmary and Health Related Facility. In November of 1982 the name of the facility was changed to the currently used Westmount Health Facility.
