Nurse Jackie starring Edie Falco renewed for seventh season by Showtime

Edie Falco stars in Nurse Jackie on Showtime

"Nurse Jackie" has been renewed for a seventh season, in advance of its sixth season premiere, according to a March 31, 2014 media announcement made by David Nevins, President of Showtime Networks Inc., and emailed by Showtime. The signature comedy series "Nurse Jackie," starring Edie Falco, returns for sixth season on Sunday, April 13 at 9 p.m.

Edie Falco has won Emmy and Golden Globe Awards for her portrayal of irritatingly flawed, pill-popping emergency room nurse Jackie Peyton.

In the sixth season, Jackie (Falco) returns to the demons of her addiction after experiencing a period of sobriety. In her daily high wire act with no net, Jackie tries to cope with a real relationship with Officer Frank Verilli (Adam Ferrara), ex-husband Kevin Payton (Dominic Fumusa), increasingly wild teen daughter Grace (Ruby Jerins); and a sponsor who she can’t seem to shake (guest star Julie White). Something’s gotta give.

"Nurse Jackie" also stars Emmy Award winner Merritt Wever as Nurse Zoey, Paul Schulze as pharmacist Eddie Walzer, Anna Deavere Smith as administrator Gloria Atalitus, Peter Facinelli as Dr. Cooper, Stephen Wallem, Betty Gilpin and Mackenzie Aladjem. Special guest star Morris Chestnut returns, and Laura Benanti and Michael Esper guest star.

Emmy Award nominee Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner and executive producer. Tom Straw, Richie Jackson, Liz Flahive and Caryn Mandabach also executive produce.

The seventh season of the series, which is a co-production of Showtime and Lionsgate, will begin filming in New York later this year.
