Sobriety is a b****!
After a much-talked about strong fourth season, Nurse Jackie returns for a monumental fifth installment that is sure to bring on new personal crises for the less than saintly nurse, mother, and newly single woman, Jackie Peyton. Now sober, can Jackie make it through life’s everyday traumas without looking and aching for one of her special pills?
Stepping in where former executive producers/showrunners of the dark comedy series (Liz Brixius & Linda Wallem) left off, Clyde Phillips (Dexter & Parker Lewis Can't Lose) adds a lot more flare and undeniable dark hilarity to this already stellar intimate and humorous character study of an addict, starring the always fascinating Edie Falco. The behind-the-scenes sneak peek at the new season, coming at us this spring, teases an interestingly different Season 5! There’s drama, laughs, temptation and more of our favorite characters, from the spunky Zoey (Merritt Wever), the teddy bear Thor (Stephen Wallem) and even the oblivious Dr. Cooper (Peter Facinelli) and the always fabulous Gloria Akalitus (Anna Deavere Smith), who, with Eddie, has been rehired, now that Mike Cruz is out of the facility…
Many fans will be saddened to hear of Eve Best’s departure from the series, as in the first episode of the season Dr. O‘Hara, Jackie‘s best friend and major supporter, leaves for a great return to London with her baby. A change in cast that is somewhat of an outrage. But there are also new cast members to fawn over. Morris Chestnut will recur as Dr. Ike Prentiss, an army vet who becomes head of the trauma center. There is a new doctor, Dr. Carrie Roman (Betty Gilpin), a first-year intern who is a bit in over her head at All Saints Hospital. And lastly there will be a new love interest for our flawed protagonist, Frank (Adam Ferrara), a cop who is adamant in his mission to make a rather stressed Jackie smile. And Jackie has a lot to stress about this season!

Going through a divorce with her ex-husband, Kevin, juggling two young growing girls, adapting to more change, and maintaining sobriety under all the new pressures that seem to be tempting her to give in and quit after all that she’s worked for! Will we see Jackie’s personal life begin to improve in this season? Will she somehow be able to find some semblance of happiness after it all, or will her addiction and stress force her to become a world class “Trauma Queen”? We shall see…This season is about Jackie finding her "joy"!
The critically acclaimed Nurse Jackie returns with its much anticipated fifth season premiere on Showtime channel this Sunday, April 14th at 8:00 p.m. for those in the Tennessee Valley! Don’t miss it!
