Nun from 'The Voice' and contestant from 'Wheel of Fortune' storm YouTube

This week, two people from two different TV shows took YouTube by storm for very different reasons. The newest Internet sensations include a 25-year-old singing nun who brought the audience to its feet on Italy’s version of “The Voice” and Emil de Leon, a contestant on “Wheel of Fortune,” who won $45,000 after solving a puzzle with just two letters. Combined, more than 18 million people have logged on to YouTube to watch the videos that went viral this week.

The first new YouTube star of the week is Sister Cristina Scuccia, who stunned the judges with her soulful rendition of “No One” by Alicia Keyes on “The Voice of Italy.” As posted by the "LA Times" on March 21, the young nun “has gone viral on YouTube, and it’s a clip that needs no translation.”

Just like the US version, “The Voice of Italy” features singers that try to impress the judges, who turn their chairs to see the face behind the voice if they like what they hear. In this case, all four judges did just that and were surprised to see that the booming voice came from a petite nun from the Ursuline Sisters of the Holy Family. Four of her sisters and her parents cheered on the singing nun and jumped up and down with joy. The Huffington Post reported that when asked what the Vatican would think of her singing, the newest star from “The Voice of Italy” responded, “I really hope that Pope Francis will call me now.” To see Sister Cristina Scuccia perform “No One” on “The Voice of Italy,” be sure to check out the video above, which has gone viral and has been viewed more than 11 million times in less than 48 hours.

Like the singing nun, Emil de Leon also became a YouTube star this week when he competed on “Wheel of Fortune.” On a new episode that aired on Wednesday, the contestant shocked Pat Sajak and the entire country when he correctly solved the “New Baby Buggy” puzzle with just two letters to win $45,000. The clip of his final round went viral and has been viewed more than 7 million times on YouTube.

The “Wheel of Fortune” contestant is so popular that he was invited to appear on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” on Thursday for a segment that will air on Monday, March 24. According to “Us Magazine,” Emil reveals how he solved the puzzle. Ellen plays her own version of “Wheel of Fortune” with him and then presents the contestant with his very own baby buggy. E! Online posted on Friday that when he plays at home, Emil correctly guesses the puzzles about 99% of the time. Combined with his earlier winnings, the contestant won a total of $63,099 on “Wheel of Fortune.”
